We can’t wait to see you leave our office with a huge grin on your face.
Preventative Dentistry for Your Teeth
Routine dental care is essential for your teeth and without it, you may experience gum disease, tooth decay, or worse. When you maintain your teeth, you are maintaining your overall health as well. Plaque and tartar love teeth and will form on them whenever they have the opportunity. You must fight back against this powerful connection and keep plaque and tartar at bay. The plaque that gathers on your teeth can lead to gum disease, which is actually connected to bacteria and inflammation that lead to heart disease and clogged arteries. Even if you think you do not have any problems with your teeth, there may be something hiding in your mouth or beneath the gum line that you cannot see. Instead of taking your chances, our team can help you determine whether something is lurking under the surface.
We Help You Prevent Tooth Decay
When you come in for regular dental checkups and exams, you will find that you can stay free from common dental issues. In turn, you can enjoy more time outside of the office living life instead of having dental procedures performed or being in pain. The team at Dr. Fred Thompson’s Richardson, TX, dentist office offers comprehensive dental services including:
- Dental cleanings and exams
- Digital X-rays Consultations
- Fluoride treatments
- Oral cancer screenings with Oral ID
- Decay prevention
- Gum disease screening
At your appointment, you will be greeted by a member of our team and will complete your paperwork. Then you will meet one of our dentists and have digital X-rays taken by one of our assistants. The doctor will review these x-rays with you, discussing any problems he finds and asking if you have any concerns you’d like for him to address. Our dental hygienist will perform a thorough cleaning, and the dentist will also check you for oral cancer and gum disease. We can even start some treatments the same day as your exam, such as fillings and gum disease treatment. Our dentists are ready to provide you with the information and services you need to keep your teeth bright and white. If you are unsure of how to properly care for your teeth outside of our office, we will teach you the best way to brush and floss.
Our mercury-free fillings can help protect your tooth from further decay. If we detect a cavity during your preventative cleaning, we will first clean the decay from your tooth and then fill it with composite resin that matches the color of your tooth. At our office, you will never have to worry about smiling with an unsightly silver filling! If you have an old mercury amalgam filling, we can replace it with a composite filling for a more aesthetic appearance.
Gum Disease Treatment
We have a thorough periodontal disease program that fights gum disease and its symptoms. You will start your gum disease treatment at your first visit, if you have time. Then you will come back for multiple visits to allow us to check on the progress. We will recommend you visit us every 6 weeks for checkups so that we can get rid of this potentially serious disease. Our gum disease treatments consist of: soft-tissue management (gums and tissues that are affected) root planing and scaling to clean under the gums and in the tooth root chlorhexidine antibacterial prescription fluoride treatment to take home.
